For the trickiest effects like particles, smoke and rigid body dynamics (RBD), they often turn to Houdini. Veteran VFX expert Marcus Duprat (Thor: Ragnarok, Matrix Resurrections) will introduce you to this essential software, helping you build critical everyday effects with particle, RBD, and simulation elements. This skill is crucial to working in today's VFX industry, and is a basic instrument in a pro's toolkit.
Software Requirements:
You must have a computer with an Internet connection. Your computer must also be able to run the required versions of Houdini. Below you can see a list of all the hardware and software requirements you will need: Operating System Requirements (One of the following) Microsoft Windows 10 (64bit), or Windows 11 (64bit MacOS - Requires 64-bit Intel-based or Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 11 and higher Software: Houdini 20 or higher Memory: 8 GB required, 12 GB or higher recommended. Processor: Intel or AMD x64 CPU with SSE 4.2 required. Graphics Card: A GL4.0 compliant graphics card is required. GL3.3 cards will have missing features and lower GL versions will not run Houdini 20.0 at all. 4GB VRAM or more is required. Graphics card must support OpenCL version 1.2.
